Born in Oak Park, IL - raised in Addison, IL (both just outside of Chicago) Have two brothers - one is two years older and one is two years younger. Had an interest in radio when I was driving a delivery van for Secure Tool. Ended up at College of Dupage for 2 1/2 years and then transferred to North Central College in Naperville, IL
In the meantime interned at Q101 Chicago, and eventually thee no longer, 105.9 WCKG. I listened to 'CKG driving the truck to personalities like Howard Stern, Steve Dahl, Wendy Snyder, Buzz Kilman, Pete McMurray, Johnny B., Kevin Matthews, Stan and Terry and just absorbed. Pete McMurray taught me alot.
Ran the Opie and Anthony Show as my first official PAID gig in radio. They were booted and I helped produce shows and do weekend on air work. Biggest break was a result of fighting in Afghanistan. Overnights, Tom Stevens, was called up to active duty and for the length of his tour I was given the overnight shift. Had a blast and built a demo after awhile for 102.3 WXLC in Waukegan, IL.
My friend Maggie Peterson worked there and helped me get the job. From November of 2003 to February of 2008 I was half of the morning team - with a lot of changeover!
There were a few hosts at WXLC. Maggie Peterson (left to move to Star 96.7 in Joliet), Melanie (not sure of her last name's spelling) for a short period, others, and then Rebecca Ortiz. We were together for just about four years at the station. We had a great time and built the best audience ever! Rebecca is currently on in Chicago at heritage B96 doing a few different duties including on air.
In February 2008 I packed up and moved, with my family (wife and two children), to Colorado Springs, CO to do mornings on 92.9 Peak FM.
And now, here I am back in Illinois at Star 105.5!!
