"It’s important that those residents most at risk be the first to receive the vaccine," states Patrick J. McNulty, MCDH Public Health Administrator. "We ask that others be patient until more vaccine is received." The nasal vaccine cannot be given to pregnant women or adults younger than 49 with underlying medical conditions.
Although delays in vaccine distribution are frustrating, it is important to remember that shipments are planned throughout the U.S. during the flu season. Future clinics will also be offered throughout McHenry County by medical care providers, schools, pharmacies and Immediate Care facilities when H1N1 vaccine (both nasal and injectable) is received. This information will be posted on the Department’s H1N1 webpage ( www.mcdh.info) along with vaccine guidelines for parents, schools and healthcare providers. For more information, call the MCDH hotline at 815-334-2800.
