Sgt. Kevin comes home / Veteran's Day and a Purple Heart / Blackhawks balloon hat

Nov 11, 2013 -- 4:27am

Sgt. Kevin and family surprised us this morning with a visit! They came in when he deployed to Afghanistan and came to present us with a flag flown over the country. It says "This flag signifies the triumph of all soldiers who fought for that freedom. God Bless American.

This is a purple heart from a man who is a close family friend and a Vietnam Veteran. He's very modest about his time at war and also received a bronze star too. He was a young man at war and fought for his country proudly. He showed me the letter that accompanied the bronze star and it read "When his unit became heavily engaged with a large enemy force, Private First Class exposed himself to the intense hostile fire as he placed accurate suppressive retaliatory fire on the enemy positions. Disregarding his own safety, continued to engage the insurgents until all the casualties were evacuated." Thank you to all those who have served and continue to do so! Plus, the families of all who serve!

Robin, below, whipped up some fun Hawks balloon hats but that is just a snapshot of what she does! She has a company that can decorate for parties and more. Check out some of her work here!
