2011-2012 Teacher of the Year

8th Grade Math Teacher at Parkland Schol in McHenry, Casey Ten Bruin

Mrs. Ten Bruin is one of those teachers that always goes above and beyond for her students. She is an excellent teacher who finds real world ways and fun sayings to help students understand math! She also is involved in many other school wide programs. Recently she organized our schools efforts for St. Baldricks. Not only did she orchestrate the biggest donations Parkland have ever gotten she also shaved her own head. This proves her dedication to kids and her desire to not only talk the talk but to walk the walk! As if this wasn't enough, she is on a yearly basis of volunteers to organize the 8th grade Dinner Dance. She also coaches multiple sports, is on many committees throughout the district, and has been involved in bringing new technology into the building. Mrs. Ten Bruin constantly shows dedication and a love for the profession. I feel lucky to work alongside such an outstanding educator who encourages those around her to become better!
