Dec 10, 2012 -- 11:08am

On November 29, 2012, the City of Crystal Lake received an Illinois Governor’s Hometown Award for the Three Oaks Recreation Area.  The City was a project winner in Division V (communities with populations of between 25,001 – 70,000).  The projects were judged within their population categories as well as within their assigned project categories of services and mentorship, beautification and sustainability, parks and recreation, memorials and monuments, and history and historic preservation.

The Three Oaks Recreation Area allows patrons to enjoy the beautiful lake through a rental marina, swim beach, trails, and picnic grounds.  The lake’s water clarity is unparalleled in Northern Illinois.  The development success of the Three Oaks Recreation Area resulted from the dedication of the entire community.  The park’s vision was made a reality through the efforts of the Crystal Lake City Council, the volunteer Study Committee, City staff, community organizations, and City residents.  More information regarding the Three Oaks Recreation Area can be found at www.threeoaksrecreation.com or at 815-459-2020.
