Listener Gary sent us a pic of the tree off of Dunham Road. The story behind the tree is that of the great American Spirit! Pretty cool that there is one right here in McHenry County.
From this article: A shoe tree starts with one dreamer, tossing his or her footwear-of-old high into the sky, to catch on an out-of-reach branch. It usually end there, unseen and neglected by others.
But on rare occasions, that first pair of shoes triggers a shoe tossing cascade.
The McHenry County Conservation District is having an Earth Day Event on Saturday throughout most of the day. They will have activities all day long to teach you and the family about conserving, raffles, music, and a chance to recycle household items too. Rain or shine it'll be happening. It's happening in Crystal Lake.
