Cary Fire Protection District's Centennial Parade and Fire Truck Expo June 15
The Cary Fire Department was formed in 1913 and this year they are celebrating their 100 Year Centennial.
On Saturday, June 15th a Centennial Parade and Fire Truck Expo will be held. The Parade will begin at 10:00am.
The route will be on First Street, beginning at Pearl Street and ending at Cary-Grove High School. Featured in the parade will be Cary Fire Department apparatus, fire trucks, both old and new from neighboring towns, RESCUE 5 - a New York Fire Department Truck which was damaged at Ground Zero on 9/11 and restored,  and several antique trucks from both the Northern Illinois Fire Museum and the Elgin Fire Barn 5 Museum. Members of the Cary-Grove High School Band will also be marching in the parade.

After the parade a fire truck expo will be held at Cary-Grove High School until 1:00pm. Many of the apparatus in the parade will be on display for public viewing until 1:00pm. Food will be sold by the Cary-Grove Booster Club during the expo. Special Centennial Commemorative T-shirts have been designed and will be available for purchase. T-Shirts cost $20 for sizes Small to X-Large and $22 for sizes 2XL & 3XL Shirts.

Special event license plates issued by the Illinois Secretary of State have been designed and order forms will be available at the fire truck expo.  These are legal license plates and may be displayed on passenger vehicles, B-Trucks, and recreational vehicles weighing 8,000 pounds or less. There is a limit of 200 plates which are being sold for $35 each. Specific numbers can be requested, but cannot be guaranteed. The plates can be displayed on your vehicle between July 15th and September 14th. To order a special event license plate you need to complete an application, submit a copy of your vehicle registration which must be valid through September 2013 and submit a check for $35 to the Cary Firefighters Association. All proceeds from the sales of license plates support the efforts of the firefighter association sponsoring children for burn camp, fire victim assistance fund and scholarship fund. Any license plates ordered will be mailed directly to you by the Secretary of State.
