April 18th (7pm to 8pm) ~ TAI CHI ~ Promote serenity and reduce stress with gentle movements which connect the mind and body. Tai Chi Master Allison Deputy will guide these classes, which are open to all experience levels.
April 20th (10am to 3pm) ~ Soaring with the Skylarks: Model RC Aircraft Display ~ Get an up-close look at radio-controlled (RC) aircraft before they take to the spring skies. Models on display will include electric, gasoline and nitro-fueled scale, sport, and jet aircraft. A computer flight simulator will be available for you to try your hand at flying an RC model. Presented by the Skylarks RC Club of Illinois.
April 25th (7pm to 8:30pm) ~ Identity Theft & Credit Fraud: Protect Yourself ~ According to the U. S. Bureau of Statistics, over 11 million cases of identity theft occur each year. This program will assist you in identifying potential scams and protecting your family from identity theft. Presented by the Illinois State Comptroller's Office.
April 30th (7pm to 9pm) ~ On December 1, 1958, one of the worst school fires in U.S. history broke out at the Our Lady of the Angels School in Chicago. Nearly 100 lives were lost and over 75 were critically wounded. Jim Gibbons will present the story based on newspaper articles, eyewitness accounts, and his personal interviews.
May 1st (7pm to 8:30pm) ~ The Art of Pablo Picasso ~ Art historian and professor Jeff Mishur will present an in-depth look at Picasso's stylistic diversity and his careerlong pursuit of artistic innovation.
Mary 4th (10:30am to 12pm) ~ The Great Gatsby - A Prelude Discussion ~ In anticipation of the new adaption of The Great Gatsby, we'll revisit "the Great American Novel" that defined the Roaring Twenties. Books will be available at the Adult Services Reference Desk beginning April 1.
