Christmas Shopping That Will Make a Difference in Lives Around the World Fair Trade Gifts, Give Back

Crystal Lake, IL Christian Fellowship Church will be hosting a Fair Trade Faire on Sunday, Nov. 25th and Sunday, Dec. 12th.
This will be a phenomenal opportunity to purchase holiday gifts that are handcrafted by those living in marginal circumstances.
There will be several fair trade vendors and other vendors that provide assistance to poverty stricken areas around the world.

This is a dream come true for me, said Sylvia Thoma, coordinator of the Fair Trade Faire.
"I have been a vendor at the Willow Creek fair trade event the past two years and wanted to follow in their path of providing a great venue for shopping that gives back to those living in dire circumstances."
Sylvia has worked with Naya Paula (new bud) Paper Factory in West Bengal, India for the past five years, helping to market their products in the U.S. went there on a missions trip and ended up falling in love with the people of the small community of Pedong.
The paper factory provides work for women and men in the community to be able to afford medicine, food and an education for their children. "Seeing an entire community changed by employment has given me a passion for the fair trade industry".

The other vendors will include
Global Bag Project (reusable shopping bags Africa)
Paws for Pure Water (mittens and other knitted items for wells in Africa)
    Creative Occasions (fair trade world-wide)
    Reign-Bow Ministries (jewelry, scarves, Africa)
St. Martha's Ministry (bone jewelry, Africa)
Naya Paula Paperworks (handmade, super-green paper India).

The other amazing thing about most of the products is that they are green, or what I call 'super-green' Thoma said. "Items are usually made from recyclable materials. Naya Paula uses branches pruned from the Lokta bush, which helps keep the plants alive longer than if they were never pruned. "It's really an amazing industry".
