Make Cider Fest the apple of your eye
UNION - There even is more to see at this year's Cider Fest, sponsored by the McHenry County Historical Society at its museum.
Throughout the day Huntley Ambassador Girl Scout Sarah French will be hosting an interactive children's workshop to accompany her exhibit "Girls and Women: Then and Now."
The workshop offers interactive elements that enable visitors to experience firsthand what rural life was like for women and young girls in 20th century McHenry County.
The public also is encouraged to stop by and visit the Girl Scout exhibit, marking the organization's centennial, which will be closing at the end of October.
This display focuses on the history of Girl Scouting in McHenry County and features a vast collection of scout materials such as uniforms, handbooks, camping gear and novelty items.
A chronological approach, which includes a time line, allows visitors to see decade by decade the activities, changing uniforms, and public roles of local scouts.
